Elevated stage platforms are portable, lightweight performance stages that are ideal for outdoor performances.elevated stage platform They can be assembled quickly and easily to create a variety of elevated stage layouts. They can also be easily moved, rearranged and stored when not in use.

Platforms are an important piece of any theatre design.elevated stage platform They provide a place for performers to stand and perform, as well as for audience members to sit and watch the action. The best platforms provide a strong foundation that’s easy to clean and maintain, as well as being durable enough to withstand a lot of wear and tear.

A platform can be made of a number of materials, including wood, metal, plastic and fiberglass. In addition to being a popular choice for theatres, platform frames can also be used in many other types of applications, such as musical productions, corporate events and outdoor shows.

Choosing an Elevated Stage Platform

First, determine the purpose of the stage. Are you using it for a theatre production or are you looking to set up a permanent elevated staging area for outdoor events?

If you’re planning to use the platform for a production, it needs to meet fire code requirements. Both IBC and NFPA 101 require fire protection systems if the stage is more than 50 feet high from the stage floor to underside of roof or the floor above it, and both codes have additional requirements for platforms that are located in assembly spaces.

Plywood Decks: The platform surface is typically constructed from plywood, a core panel composed of thin slices of wood that are fused together under heat and pressure for strength and durability. Plywood can be textured to improve acoustics and traction, or fabricated with a decorative finish.

Reinforced Joints with Steel Plates and Rivets: Some riser frames are designed to reinforce joints with steel plates that connect each leg to the frame for lasting support. They also often feature spring-lock systems that secure legs in the open position to prevent collapse during use.

Options:

Steps, Guardrails and Transport Wheels
Various optional elements can be added to a stage or riser configuration to improve safety. These options can include steps for easy access to the highest level, side guardrails that encircle the entire top tier of a riser configuration to enhance visibility, and transport wheels that allow tilt and roll mobility on the frame of a stage or riser.

Optional Step Unit: The option to add a fourth level to the riser configuration, commonly called a “step unit”, is a great way to enhance safety on a taller stage or riser. The fourth level usually features a guardrail for added safety.

Rear Guardrails: The option to add a rear guardrail to a riser configuration is another option for enhanced safety. This rail encircles the back of the top-most tier to enhance visibility for users as they move across the stage or riser.

Other Products:

Other accessories to consider for your platform or stage are handrails, skirting and dollies for transporting the stage to the event site. All of these can be purchased separately and easily attached to the stage to make the design more versatile and safe for all users.
